Refuse Amnesty Day
Amnesty Day Amnest Day is a refuse collection day that allows residents living in single-family homes to dispose of unwanted items free of charge. Refuse stickers are not required. North of 55th Street: Amnesty Day will be held Monday, May 16, 2011 South of 55th Street: Amnesty Day will be held Wednesday May 18, 2011
The following conditions apply:
- Materials must be bundled or in containers.
- Bulk items such as couches, chairs, lamps, bicycles and major appliances are acceptable.
- Construction material is limited to two cubic yards (eight 33 gallon sized cans). Loose construction material will not be acceptable. Materials must be placed in containers weighting no more than 50 lbs. Nails must be removed to prevent injury to pickup crews. Bundles must be tied with rope and must not be longer than 4 feet and tied with rope.
- All items must be placed on the curb.
- No liquids will be accepted. Yard waste is not acceptable.
Items not accepted on Amnesty Day include but are not limited to:
- Riding lawn mowers
- Snowmobiles
- Car parts (i.e. tires)
- Batteries
- Used motor oil
- Household hazardous waste
- Medical waste
- Bricks, concrete, stone
- Unhardened paint
