The Village of Clarendon Hills is pleased to announce Brendan McLaughlin will be appointed as the next Public Works Director by President Len Austin with consent from the Board of Trustees at the December 3rd Village Board Meeting. Mr. McLaughlin’s first day will be December 10th.
Mr. McLaughlin joins the Village following a 25-year career that includes experience in both the public and private sectors. Since 2012 Mr. McLaughlin served as the Director of Public Works at the Village of La Grange Park, Illinois. He has extensive experience in road paving, water main replacement, winter storm operations and overseeing multi-million dollar capital projects. Mr. McLaughlin received his bachelors in Public Administration from Saint Mary’s College of Minnesota and his Masters in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University.
“I am thrilled for the opportunity to come work for such a wonderful community. Clarendon Hills has a great reputation for thoughtful planning and a strong commitment to serving its residents. It is truly an honor to be selected to lead the team at Public Works” Mr. McLaughlin said.
The search for a new director lasted two months. The process began when former Public Works Director Mike Millette announced his resignation to accept a position with a larger community. The Village interviewed several candidates before ultimately offering Mr. McLaughlin the position. “We are very excited to have Brendan join our hardworking staff. His experiences put him at the top of our list and make him a natural fit for the department” said President Austin.
The Public Works Department consists of eight full-time staff members including the Director. Responsibilities include water distribution, road maintenance, snow and ice control, parkway trees and managing the Village’s fleet of vehicles.
