Hydrant Flushing

The Spring hydrant-flushing program begins in April. The areas affected in 2010 are all streets north of the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks. The flushing will be done between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. for approximately 4 to 6 weeks.

Effective 2006, the Village began flushing only one side of town annually. (ie. only the north side of the tracks were flushed in 2006 and only the south side of the tracks were flushed in 2007. In 2008, the north side of the tracks will be flushed. This rotating schedule from north to south will now be permanent.

During hydrant flushing, residents may notice a slight discoloration in their water. Run the cold water tap for a few moments to remove any discoloration.

Flushing verifies the hydrants are operational and eliminates any rust in the system.
