Train Station Area Redevelopment Planning Project

In 2006, the Village Board approved the Downtown Plan, which outlines opportunities for growth in downtown Clarendon Hills. A key component of the plan is redevelopment of the Metra train station site to improve accessibility and create opportunities for development. A grant from the Regional Transportation Agency (RTA) and matching funds from the West Suburban Mass Transit District will fund a Train Station Area Redevelopment Plan, which will allow the Village to better assess the needs of area residents, commuters and businesses in the community and to determine the potential for development on the site. The Village hired planning firm Houseal Lavigne Associates to oversee the planning process, which will also include input from specialists in other fields. The Village Board appointed a steering committee, consisting of representatives from the Village Board, various Village commissions, the Chamber of Commerce, Village staff and relevant transportation agencies to guide the preparation of the Train Station Area Redevelopment Plan.

Public Input
The Train Station Area Redevelopment Planning process began in June 2010, and it is anticipated that the Village Board will consider a final plan in January 2011. Throughout that time, there will be several opportunities for public input. Look for those opportunities on the Village website and the print and email editions of Trustee Topics. Houseal Lavigne has created an opportunity to provide input and follow the planning process online. Please visit the Clarendon Hills Train Station Area Redevelopment website to provide your ideas for the plan.
