Why Clarendon Hills

Another contributor to the growth in property values is the continued reinvestment in the housing stock. Over the last 15 years, approximately 25 percent of the Village’s older single-family homes have been replaced with new homes. New housing within the Village has subsequently produced additional tax revenue to support Village schools and services in addition to improving the values of existing properties.

Schools, Colleges, & Universities

Three public schools, one middle and two elementary, were constructed in Clarendon Hills within the last seven years. The elementary and high school districts that serve the Village are some of the highest ranked school systems in the country. Based on 2005 Illinois Standards Achievement, Clarendon Hills elementary public school district (District 181) ranked in the top ten of all elementary schools in the State of Illinois. In 2005, Newsweek Magazine ranked Hinsdale Central High School, the public high school serving Clarendon Hills, as one of the top 200 schools in the nation. Notre Dame School is a private Catholic elementary school that also teaches Pre-K through the eighth grade in the village.

The Village of Clarendon Hills is within a short  distance of a number of accredited colleges and universities. Benedictine University, College of DuPage (Glen Ellyn), Elmhurst College, and North  Central College are within a ten-mile radius of the Village. Within a 15-mile radius are Robert Morris College (Naperville), Wheaton College, Dominican University, and Concordia University.

Village Events

The Village’s downtown hosts a number of Village events that showcase area businesses to the community. Dancin’ in the Street, Daisy Days, Oktoberfest, Christmas Walk, and the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony are annual events that take  place downtown and attract hundreds of people from the Village and surrounding communities. Dancin’ in the Street, the Village’s most popular event, is an eight-week concert series during the summer months. Attendance at this event alone can exceed more than 1,000 people. Typically, Village businesses market their goods and services and have special promotions at these events.
