For your safety and the safety of the environment, the Police Department allows anyone to drop off any unused medications with no questions asked (during office hours of Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.). Keep in mind that liquids, needles, and sharps are not accepted at the drop box.
Water is a precious natural resource. Yet, every day our drinking water is being contaminated with prescription drugs-dumped down drains, toilets and in garbage. The Prescription Drug Take Back Program of the Cook County Sheriff's Office and this Collection Receptacle were made possible, in part, by funding provided by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
