The Chicago Avenue Construction Project is in full swing and is expected to last until the middle of August. Your patience and use of caution while driving through this area is appreciated.
New STOP SIGNS were added on Chicago at Coe/Norfolk.
The new signs are on barricades at this time, but will be permanently installed at the end of the project.
The island on the south side of Chicago at Norfolk is in the process of removal.
Pedestrian traffic is being rerouted down Norfolk to Prospect.
Contractors will be removing the driveway and sidewalk at Notre Dame’s parking lot entrance to Chicago Avenue on Monday.
That entrance will be reopened no later than Sunday morning, but likely sooner, depending on concrete cure time.
In the interim, pedestrian access across Chicago Avenue will be relocated to the corner of Coe/Norfolk and Chicago Avenue. A four-way stop has been established there, and temporary striping has been placed to delineate the crosswalk.
